It's the place where one can enjoy with the others served with seasonal hospitality.

The restaurant is named "SHOUN" from the zen word "shounzuiki" meaning the clouds as an indication of something good.

The theme was "like the clouds, it's never the same shape, one time of thing", but it's difficult to express that with fixed structure. We then designed it focusing on what is not structure.

First we designed to enjoy the changing of the weather and the changing of the season by connoting the alley garden within the building. Furthermore, to produce the stillness that is found in the city " a house in the mountains made in a town", we surrounded the alley garden in an outer wall, lapstraked Japanese "kawara" tiles. By the tiled wall, the outside noise would be cutoff and the deep shade of the tiles would change its face every moment.

Away from the everyday hustle, free like the clouds, it's a place you can enjoy your moment of gathering.
